CRUK City of London Centre Patient and Carer Representative Application

Are you interested in shaping and evaluating Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) activities, and are a cancer patient or a carer (past and present)? The Cancer Research UK (CRUK) City of London Centre is recruiting two cancer patient or carer representatives to support its work and we need your help.

The CRUK City of London Centre is a world class hub for cancer biological therapies. Biological therapies use the body’s immune system, either directly or indirectly, to fight cancer or to reduce the side effects that may be caused by some cancer treatments. The Centre brings together researchers from four of the central London Universities and Institutes: University College London, King’s College London, Barts / Queen Mary University of London and The Francis Crick Institute.

You will be members of the Centre PPIE committee who develops and implements the Centre’s PPIE strategy and evaluate the Centre PPIE activities. You will be expected to attend around six one-hour meetings a year (in-person or online), the Centre annual symposium (2 days a year in person), approximately 2 days to evaluate PPIE activities (offline) and any ad hoc activities.

Cancer research knowledge is not required. We will invite the shortlisted applicants for an informal chat with the Centre PPIE committee. As the Centre is the City of London, you are ideally based in London/Greater London.

Please complete the short application form at https://bit.ly/CityofLondonCentrePPIE (or scan the QR code below) by the end of Sunday 5 November 2023 and we hope to contact the shortlisted applicants and inform you of your application outcome by 17 November.

You can also access the application form by scanning the QR code.

You will be paid honorarium (for meetings and agreed offline work) and expenses per the CRUK policy, you can find details at Budgeting for your patient involvement | Cancer Research UK.

PPIE committee members may leave the group as and when they want. However, a minimum of one year would be appreciated. The membership will be reviewed annually.
