Spotlight on…. Chima Eke

Welcome Chima to the City of London Centre and we look forward to working with you. Can you tell us about your role, where are you based and your journey so far?

Thank you for your warm welcome. I am excited to be part of the City of London Centre and the KCL Comprehensive Cancer Centre where am based. My journey thus far has revolved around data science, particularly application of machine learning and advanced statistical methods to biomedical data, including proteomics and medical records, as well as social policy-related data. I am delighted by the opportunity provided by this role to contribute to the advancement of cancer research through the development of analytical pipelines to facilitate diagnostic, prognostic or predictive analysis of imaging and multimodal data.

Why did you apply to the role? And what are you most looking forward to be working on?

I applied to this role, on the one hand, because of the unique opportunity it offers to make a meaningful impact on state-of-the-art cancer research. On the other hand, I am impressed by the commitment of the City of London Centre and the KCL Comprehensive Cancer Centre to enduring excellence in cancer research, together with the high-quality collaborative platforms they offer researchers. The intersection of this role with my career aspirations in computer vision and multimodal biomedical data analysis also made my decision to join easier. I look forward to harnessing my expertise and collaborations afforded by this compelling opportunity to pursue these aspirations in cancer research. I am elated to be part of this vibrant research community.

What do you like to do outside work?

Outside of work, I engage in a range of activities that help me to unplug and recharge. Top of the list is spending quality time with my family. Otherwise, you will usually find me either meditating, reading non-fictional books, exploring nature, keeping fit or volunteering.
