Welcome Suniya to the City of London Centre and we look forward to working with you. Can you tell us about your role, where are you based and your journey so far?

Thank you for the warm welcome! I am delighted to be part of the City of London Centre and the UCL Cancer Institute as a Research Fellow. In my role, I am based within the Proteomics Research Translational Technology Platform (PRTPP) at the Cancer Institute. My journey so far has centred around the computational analysis of proteomics and phosphoproteomics data. With a background in proteomics and bioinformatics, I am excited to contribute to the advancement of cancer research by implementing and developing computational workflows for the analysis of large-scale mass spectrometry data. The vibrant environment at the Cancer Institute and the opportunity to work closely with the Cancer Institute Bioinformatics Hub align perfectly with my expertise and passion for advancing computational approaches in omics research.

Why did you apply to the role? And what are you most looking forward to be working on?

I applied for this role because of the compelling opportunity it offers to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of bioinformatics and cancer biology. The City of London Centre and the UCL Cancer Institute’s commitment to excellence in cancer research aligns with my career aspirations. I am particularly excited about advancing computational workflows for large-scale mass spectrometry data, unravelling the complexities of proteomics and phosphoproteomics. The prospect of collaborating with experts in cancer research aligns with my professional goals and passion for advancing bioinformatics in cancer research. I am thrilled to be part of this dynamic research community.

What do you like to do outside work?

Outside of work, my greatest joy is spending quality time with my daughter. As a mother, I find immense fulfilment in witnessing her growth and development. Whether it’s exploring new activities, reading together, or simply sharing moments of laughter, our time together is precious. Being a mum has added a wonderful dimension to my life, and I cherish the opportunity to create lasting memories with my daughter.
